Many people don’t find their true calling in life until they are well into adulthood. I’m one of the lucky ones. I guess you could say that I found mine at a very young age, while peeking into people’s homes of all things.
One of my fondest memories is being a young child taking family car trips throughout Canada. In between the eye spy games with my two younger brothers and arguing over who was going to sit in the middle (and it wasn’t going to be me), I found myself staring out of the window at the homes we’d drive by, dying to peek inside. What I loved most was catching a glimpse of what those spaces looked liked, particularly at night when the curtains were open and the warm glow of lighting highlighted the rooms.
From the distance, some of those rooms looked so spectacular they took my breath away, and others, well, let’s just say even then I knew they needed work! But those road trips made me realize that I somehow wanted to spend my life creating beautiful environments as warm and inviting as the inspiring ones I spied from the car window.
